Parkinson's disease

is a neurodegenerative disease. It was named after Dr James Parkin. It affects movement eg

• Walking
• Talking
• Writing

Causes

The cause of parkinson's is not yet known. There is no evidence to suggest that Parkinson's disease is inherited

Symptoms

It is hard to diagnose the disease as there are no current tests to prove if you have it or not. It develops gradually and therefore it can be a while before a person consults a doctor. Everyone is different and therefore your symptoms and treatment may be different to others.

Treatments

At the moment there is no cure however treatments are available to control the symptoms.

There are a few types of treatments

• Drug
• Surgery
• Muscle Strengthening Exercises
• Physical Therapy
