Gout

Gout is a systemic disease caused by building up of uric acid in joints. This happens when the liver produces more acid than can be excreted.

  • Kidney Disease
  • Sickle cell anemia

Symptoms

  • Usually develops first in the toes
  • Inflammation
  • Pain
  • Redness
  • Stiffness
  • Swelling

Treatment

The aim of the treatment is to reduce the amount of uric acid in the joints. This will help prevent further attacks. Anti Inflammatories are used to reduce the inflammation, pain, redness, stiffness and swelling. Doctors believe that some foods may aggravate the disease so changing your diet may help.
