Dyslexia, also known as reading disorder is a learning disability affecting reading ability. Persons with dyslexia may have difficulty remembering, recognizing, and or reversing written letters, numbers, and words, might read backwards, and have poor handwriting. 5-15% of the population can be�diagnosed as suffering from various degrees of dyslexia.
There are many people with dyslexia including; Tom Cruise, John F. Kennerdy, Georgy Washington to name a few.
- Slow Reading, little fluency, loses his/her place, leaving bits out.
- Poor Handwriting
- Diffuculties with concentration, memory, verbal skills, hand eye coordination, poor exam results and underachievement.
- They are often lazy, rebellious or unmotivated.
- The inability to decode, integrate and classify information.
Treatment consists of using educational tools to enhance the ability to read. The sooner it is diagnosed, the greater success the child will have at reading.
